Dental Technology: The Basics

computernetworkYou are probably quite familiar with our feelings about the importance of preventive dentistry, which pretty much boil down to this: It’s extremely significant and you should be visiting us once every six months for a dental visit. Your visit will include a dental cleaning and a checkup, which will rely on the use of a variety of instruments designed and constructed specifically to help you maintain optimal oral health. If you have ever looked around our practice in wide-eyed wonder, curious about the dental technology we offer, we invite you to learn a little bit more about the equipment we use with the following:

Why We Carefully Select Our Advanced Technologies

We have some serious goals when it comes to your dental care. First, we focus on ensuring you receive comfortable treatments. This means that we select technology that provides you with a relaxed experience, so you feel comfortable scheduling consistent preventive visits as well as restorative dentistry as needed. In addition, providing patients with convenience is essential. Many patients have busy schedules that offer just enough time for visits. Carefully selecting the right types of technology promotes efficient appointments as well as precise planning and treatments.

What You Can Expect

Primarily, you will notice our uses of dental technology during preventive visits. First, we will take high-resolution images of the inside of your mouth with an intraoral camera. This will allow us to display on a monitor for you what we are seeing when we examine the inside of your mouth. We will be able to zoom in to display certain areas for improved communication. We will also incorporate the use of digital X-rays – rather than conventional X-rays – to take a detailed 2D look at your oral cavity. Digital X-rays offer greatly reduced radiation, a quick and comfortable process to capture the images, almost instant imaging without the need for processing and film, and the ability to upload the images directly into our computer system for easy access.
