How to Improve Smile Alignment
An uneven smile can be more than an esthetic concern. In fact, misalignment can increase the risk of a patient developing tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, and even chronic teeth grinding. However, we can help correct misalignment with practically invisible orthodontic treatments: Invisalign and ClearCorrect.
What to Expect from Orthodontics
We offer two unique but similar orthodontic treatments. Instead of relying on metal brackets and wires, with the dentist employing tension to move the teeth into place, we use aligners.
The dentist will take impressions and images of your teeth. Using these impressions, experts at the ClearCorrect or Invisalign lab will create a series of clear plastic aligners. Once complete, you will wear the aligners everyday for between 20 and 23 hours as the doctor recommends. About once every two weeks you will upgrade to a new set as your teeth are slowly and gently repositioned and your smile straightened.
We will discuss your options and help you decide whether Invisalign or ClearCorrect is the best choice for addressing your alignment issues.
The Benefits of Orthodontics
The most obvious benefit of orthodontic treatment is your appearance. However, misalignment also impacts your oral health. Straightening your teeth can reduce the chances of developing common oral health issues. In addition, both ClearCorrect and Invisalign offer a number of benefits as well, including:
- Comfortable treatment
- Practically invisible appearance
- Fewer office visits
- In some cases, a shorter treatment period
- Easier time brush and flossing during treatment
- No need to avoid certain foods as aligners can be removed before meals
Patients who benefit from these treatments are typically over the age of 16 and have minor alignment issues. For more information, please contact our office today.
