When you are in need of your usual preventive visit, you know to call us to schedule a checkup and cleaning. When your tooth hurts, you know that you might need to come on in for a visit (and that restorative care may be in order). However, we find that there are times when patients really aren’t sure how to respond to what’s going on with oral health issues. Allow us to first say that if you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to call. For the moment, let’s look over a few instances that can cause patients to hesitate (and what you should do).
When You Need Us Immediately
Is something serious going on with your oral health that is much more severe or pressing than a mild toothache? Maybe you broke a tooth. Maybe something feels completely wrong. Perhaps your discomfort is off the charts. Whatever the case, this is when you should contact us for an emergency dental visit. Let us know if you need us!
When You’re Too Nervous
Are you trying to build up the courage to come in for a visit? If you’re dealing with severe anxiety, tell us. This is when it’s time to speak with us about sedation and how it might help you come in for the care you need, so your oral health remains protected.
When Someone Tells You You’re Snoring
Has someone recently told you that you’re snoring and it’s very loud? Maybe the same person told you that in addition to snoring, you’re waking up every night with a loud noise (that sounds like you can’t breathe) and then going back to sleep. If you experience this, let us know. We will speak with you about sleep apnea and offer treatment if we diagnose you with the sleep disorder.
